Pressure grows for new Rolling Stock Plan

Following authorisation of the new electrification programme (RB1347 p1), DfT Rail cancelled procurement of the 202 DMU vehicles intended for First Great Western, Northern and TransPennine Express. Half of the new DMUs had been allocated to FGW, but electrification of the Great Western Main Line would mean that this requirement could be met with cascaded stock.
