Profit slumps at National Express Group

Announcing half-year results for the six months to June 30 2009 on July 30, National Express Group plc reported revenue at its UK Rail business down at £627.7m from £671.1m, primarily reflecting the end of the Gatwick Express franchise in June 2008. Underlying revenue at c2c, East Anglia and East Coast grew by 1%, 'markedly lower than previous periods as the impact of recession saw reduced volumes and lower growth in fare yields'.
