DfT pushes TfL on Gospel Oak - Barking

Transport Minster Lord Adonis wrote to TfL Chairman Boris Johnson on April 17 asking him to expedite development of proposals to electrify the Gospel Oak - Barking route. This would provide a valuable alternative to the North London Line (left), and would also enable electric traction to be used on services to the new London Gateway container port at Shell Haven.rnEarlier studies showed that a business case could not be made for electrification. However, more recent work by Network Rail is understood to have produced a positive cost:benefit ratio.
