Three months after the devastating fire on September 11 that burned out every lorry on a Eurotunnel shuttle train travelling from Cheriton to Coquelles, RBI was able to inspect on December 10 the full extent of the damage to 610 m of the Channel Tunnel's concrete lining as repairs continued round the clock.rnShortly after passing through the crossover cavern into Interval 6 of the North Running Tunnel (the section nearest to the French portal), the burning train was brought to a stand correctly with the club car directly opposite a cross-passage leading into the Service Tunnel. Lorry drivers and staff were quickly evacuated.rnOnce the fire was extinguished, an early task to secure the worksite was the construction of two bulkheads, one isolating Interval 6 from the French crossovers and the other isolating Interval 5 from the English crossovers. Their purpose was to avoid dust from the work getting into the tunnels still open to normal traffic. However, after a clean-up and repairs to minor damage, Intervals 4 and 5 were quickly re-opened to traffic.
