Services on the electrified Northwest Triangle (p8) were originally intended to be operated with cascaded Class 319 EMUs, released by the new Thameslink fleet. Although this has been put in doubt by the continuing delays to DfT's Thameslink procurement, around half of the Class 319 fleet may still be transferred to the northwest.rnComments from within DfT that the four-car Class 319s would represent 'over-provision' for local services in the northwest have suggested that alternatives are being explored, given that distributed equipment would prevent Class 319s sets from being reduced to three-car formations.
