A plan to fit high-level air intakes to Manchester Metrolink's T-68 and T-68a LRVs is being considered following the significant number of failures during recent spells of severe winter weather. Tests are being carried out to assess whether a duct running from the roof of each tram to the traction motor air intake will cut the amount of debris entering the motors, specifically grit and salty slush created when snow-cov-rnered roads are treated.
