Transport Secretary Philip Hammond took time off from the Conservative Party conference on October 4 to inspect progress made to date on rebuilding Birmingham New Street station. His hosts on the tour were Birmingham City Council Leader Mike Whitby and Network Rail Chairman Rick Haythornthwaite.
