Cable theft surges in 2010

The latest figures for 2010 released by Network Rail covering the period from January 1 to mid-June show that there were 443 incidents of cable theft which caused a total of 171 105 delay-min.rnProjecting these incidents and delay rates across the whole of 2010 gives an annual rate of 967 incidents and 373 320 delay-min. Compared with the whole of 2009, when there were 558 incidents and 268 260 delay-min, these are very substantial increases.
