Following the stinging attack on on open-access operators by former Transport Minister Chris Mole (RBl364 p1), Grand Central issued a pre-election media briefing on 'the role of open access in tomorrow's railway' on May 5. The briefing listed the main benefits provided by open-access operators including improved connectivity and new journey opportunities, investment in rolling stock and stations, competition and choice, service quality and job creation.
