According to a written answer given by Transport Secretary Lord Adonis in the House of Lords on March 18, since summer 2007 the Department for Transport has spent 'about ￡13m to date on specialist consultants and advisers in connection with the new fleet of trains for the Thameslink project'. Adonis added that this has included 'financial, procurement, technical, legal, planning and other specialist advice' for 'one of the largest rolling stock orders in the country'.
