London Bridge contracts awarded

Network Rail has awarded the final two major contracts for work being undertaken at London Bridge to deliver Key Output 2 of the Thameslink Programme. Costain Ltd has been awarded a £200m contract covering redevelopment of the station to accommodate a 66% increase in passenger traffic. Balfour Beatty Rail is to undertake design, installation, testing and commissioning of the remodelled track layout required to increase the number of through platforms at London Bridge from six to nine. The number of terminal platforms used by Southern services is to be reduced from nine to six.
