Abellio is to provide up to 300 new parking spaces at stations across the network plus a further 300 at Shenfield and Wickford, all subject to planning approval. Other commitments include replacing 100 pay and display machines and the provision of electric car charging points at 20 stations. There will be a six-month trial of a scheduled bus service between Saffron Walden and Audley End station. A new PlusCab service will allow customers to book a taxi from 45 stations with pre-agreed fares based on a zonal pricing structure. On-train catering has been an issue at Greater Anglia for some time, with National Express attracting criticism for withdrawing restaurant cars from the London - Norwich route. Abellio will introduce complimentary refreshments in first class on this route and Stansted Express services.
