Five bidders for Midland Metro fleet

Centre announced on May 17 that Alstom, Bombardier, CAF, Siemens and Stadler had been invited to tender for a contract worth up to £50m to supply 19 light rail vehicles for Midland Metro. As well as replacing the existing fleet of 16 Ansaldo T69 cars, the new fleet will provide additional capacity to meet the increase in demand expected when the 1.3 km extension from Birmingham Snow Hill to New Street opens in 2015.
