Timetable for W10 via Andover

Network Rail announced on May 20 a programme of road and rail closures to enable the diversionary freight route between Southampton and Basingstoke via Andover to be cleared to the W10 loading gauge to accommodate 9 ft 6 in high containers on conventional wagons. The Eastleigh - Romsey route providing a connection to the South Western Main Line will also be cleared for further operational flexibility. The main line from Southampton to Basingstoke and on to Reading and Nuneaton was officially cleared to W10 on April 4 (RB1388 p3). NR now says 'the project was delivered more than £11 5m under the original £71m budqef.
