Olympics speed Gatwick upgrade

Network Rail announced on April 7 that it was bringing forward improvements to the concourse above the platforms at Gatwick Airport station. 'By bringing forward the concourse enhancements, Gatwick Airport station will become one of over 10 majoT railway upgrades which will be completed in time for the Olympics', said Mark Ruddy, NR Route Director for Sussex. 'This will not only help with the smooth running of next summer's events, it will leave a long-lasting and valuable legacy'. The upgrade of rail facilities at Gatwick is costing £52-8m in all, with NR contributing £44-9m and Gatwick Airport Ltd £7-9m.
