Eureka! threat to Grand Central

In its Section 22a application to ORR seeking amended track access rights for its Sunderland and Bradford services from the supplementary change date in 2011, open-access operator Grand Central says that it expects to suffer a 4% reduction in annual revenue as a result of the introduction of the standard pattern Eureka! timetable by East Coast. According to Grand Central, the new timetable 'improves overall National Rail revenue and generates substantial passenger benefits. Therefore, it can be demonstrated that as well as Grand Central losing out in absolute terms, they are also losing out in relative terms (with a reducing market share)'.
