DB upgrades Class 60

DB Schenker Rail (UK) announced on January 18 that following the successful return to service of a former British Rail Class 60 diesel locomotive upgraded to improve reliability and performance, six more would be overhauled at a cost of ￡3m during the next six months. The freight operator also plans to refurbish 14 more of this class to create a fleet of 21 'Super 60s' with an expected working life of 15 years. 'These powerful locomotives will be especially suited for customers in the steel and aggregate sectors where a high-performance locomotive is required', said DB Schenker.
