Porterbrook undertakes Prm Tsi work

Despite long-term uncertainty over future deployment, the ROSCOs are continuing to invest in upgrading and refurbishing their ex-BR multiple-unit fleets. On September 21 Porterbrook Leasing announced it had awarded South West Trains a £23m contract to undertake the C6 overhaul of its Class 455 EMU fleet. The 91 four-car Class 455s were the subject of major refurbishment in 2004-07 which featured an upgraded interior from consultants Atlantic Design. In addition to layout changes aimed at maximising capacity without compromising passenger flow, lighting systems were redesigned and a new information system installed. A full overhaul, corrosion repairs and reliability improvements were undertaken.
