Industry insiders now expect DfT to announce that the rise in regulated fares next January (RBI421 p3) will again be capped at RPI+1%. This would have to be confirmed by December 3 if the confusion caused last year by abandoning the projected RPI+3% increase is to be avoided.Current expectations are that following electrification of the Great Western Main Line to Cardiff for the December 2018 timetable change, the extension to Swansea would be completed in May 2019. The Cardiff Valley lines would see 'energisation in the calendar years 2018 and 2019', according to Transport Minister Simon Burns.
