Hitachi, Signalling Solutions Ltd and Thales are reported to have been selected from six prequalified bidders to take part in the next phase of developing the Train Management System under Network Rail's signalling strategy (RBI395 p9). Contract signature is expected by the end of the month.Reappointed as Deputy Mayor for Transport (p10), Isabel Dedring has been tasked with delivering Boris Johnson's manifesto commitment to introduce Automatic Train Control on 48% of London Underground rolling stock by 2014, 'paving the way for the first driverless train within a decade! Johnson has also promised to reduce delays by 30% on the LU network and lobby government for franchising powers to be devolved to the Mayor of London.
