Northern to be extended

DfT has granted Northern Rail a 'continuation' of its franchise from September 15 2013 until April 1 2014. Northern had already secured a two-year extension in 2010, and its franchise agreement contains a clause enabling DfT to grant a continuation of up to seven reporting periods.
