£30m to improve Scotland's stations

a £30m station investment programme was announced by Scottish Transport Minister Keith Brown at Alloa station on April 3. Reopened as recently as 2008, Alloa is already used by around 400 000 passengers a year. The £30m Scottish Stations Investment Fund will give existing stations a major makeover and see the Scottish Government put money towards new stations alongside local authorities, transport partnerships and developers', said Brown. 'New and better stations are a major part of attracting more people onto our rail services and providing sustainable, integrated and cost-effective alternatives to the private car as well as supporting jobs in the construction sector.
