More funding to increase Cambrian and Heart of Wales services

Transport Minister Edwina Hart has announced that the Welsh Government is to provide funding for additional services on the Cambrian and Heart of Wales routes, to be operated on a trial basis for three years from May 2015. Designated as 'experimental services' under Section 36 of the Railways Act 2005, they will be reviewed after the first 12 months and annually thereafter. On the Cambrian, four additional return services are to be operated between Aberystwyth and Shrewsbury on Mondav to Satur- day, including hourly services in the morning and afternoon peaks. There will also be two new return Sunday services, and an improvement to evening services between Barmouth and Pwllheli.
