Virgin Trains East Coast has issued OJEU notices covering the refurbishment of its passenger fleet. The first requirement covers the supply of labour to undertake the stripping-out of vehicles and fitting new interiors, including carpets and seats. Work is to take place at VTEC depots, starting in September and running to the end of May 2016. At Bound's Green depot in London, the contract covers 30 nine-car 1C225 sets. VTEC's 14 1C 125s are based at Craigentinny depot in Edinburgh, and also have nine passenger cars. There are also six spare vehicles in the combined fleets. A separate OJEU covers the refurbishment of seats for this project.
