Caledonian Sleeper hybrids

Trial running of the Caledonian Sleeper cars that are being supplied by CAF of Spain may take place on the Old Dalby test track, as well as on various parts of the national network, before the new fleet enters service in April 2018, RBI has learned. Each 16-car formation will consist of two eight-car sets incorporating the five different types of car ordered by Serco (RBI479 p6). The fleet will be made up of 30 full sleeping cars, 11 cars with 'pod' flat beds, 11 seats cars, 11 lounge cars and 12 'hybrid' cars.
