GWML electrification deferred

Deferral of four sections of the Great Western Electrification Programme was announced on November 8 in a written statement given to the House of Commons by Transport Minister Paul Maynard. As well as the 10.4 miles between Didcot Parkway and Oxford, the deferred sections include Bristol Parkway -Bristol Temple Meads (4.5 miles), the 22.25 miles between Thingley Junction near Chippenham and Bristol Temple Meads via Bath Spa and the branches to Henley-on-Thames and Windsor εt Eton Central which total 7.25 miles.
