London Bridge enters final phase

As contractor Costain starts work 'on the final stages' of the £1bn project to rebuild London Bridge station under the Thameslink Programme, Tooley Street which runs along the north side of the station is partially closed until February 2018. Following complete closure over the bank holiday weekend, the section between Borough High Street and Bermondsey Street has been closed to eastbound traffic since May 3. 'One of the biggest challenges of rebuilding London Bridge has been minimising disruption, not only to passengers but also to our neighbours', said Andrew Hutton, Lead Development Manager for the Thameslink Programme at Network Rail 'The part-closure of Tooley Street is unavoidable as we enter the last stages of the project, and my team and 1 have been planning this for many years to make it as safe and as seamless as possible.
