Unveiling a nine-car IEP trainset at London King's Cross on March 18, Virgin Trains East Coast announced that it was creating a cross-industry working group, including Network Rail, to investigate the potential for operating the new fleet at up to 140 mile/h on the East Coast Main Line. The first two South West Trains Class 455 EMUs to be fitted with AC traction equipment under the CP5 HLOS programme have been running into London Waterloo during fault-free testing. According to TfL's 2016-17 budget and business plan, electrification will see two-car DMUs on the Gospel Oak - Barking route replaced with the same number of four-car EMUs (right) 'from February 2017'. Network Rail's CP5 Enhancements Delivery Plan says that electric operation will be introduced 'from 2018 onwards'.
