TfL is expecting to begin 'detailed technical work' this year on its project to extend London Underground's Bakerloo Line from Elephant & Castle to Lewisham via Old Kent Road. Following consultation in autumn 2014 (RB1472 p7) that generated suggestions for over '200 alternative destinations' that could be served by a southern extension of the Bakerloo Line, last month TfL published its summary option selection report. 'A route to Lewisham via Old Kent Road and New Cross Gate provides the greatest opportunity to support growth', said TfL Man- aging Director for Planning Richard de Cani. This route has 'the potential to unlock 25 000 new homes whilst improving access to jobs in central London'.
