FirstGroup sees signs of improvement

Announcing results for the six months to September 30 2017, FirstGroup plc reported revenue of £677.4m at its rail division, up 13.7% from £595.8m the year before. This reflected the first four weeks of operating the replacement South Western franchise, won in a 70:30 joint venture with MTR, as well as like-for-like passenger revenue growth of 3.2% at FirstGroup's Great Western Railway, TransPen-nine Express and Hull Trains businesses.
