Network Rail has clarified confusion over the completion date for the Great Western Electrification Programme (RBI545 p1) which is attributed to semantics. Electrification of the Great Western Main Line between London Paddington and Cardiff and to Newbury will be commissioned by December 2018. However, GWEP also includes Wootton Basset Junction -Chippenham which is scheduled for completion by the end of Control Period 5 on March 31 2019.
