My first perspective on this subject was published in the September/October issue of Radwaste Solutions. ' It was a summary of how politics, rather than science and integrity, has dominated the decision to terminate all activities related to the Yucca Mountain high-level radioactive -waste repository. To say that it was well received would be a gross understatement. The response of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, as well as nuclear waste disposal professionals throughout the United States, was quite positive.
