Reflections on a Career in Radio Science in Egypt

When I was asked to write this article, I wonderedfrom where I should start. I thought to focus ondescribing the diff erent disciplines in which I have beenworking within industry and academia. However, I wasalso eager to highlight the situation of women scientists inEgypt, in the Arab world, the Middle East, and Africa, sinceI assume that it is not so well known. I prefer to narrate mystory to emphasize the phases of my life, starting with myearly childhood, then going to depict the success I gained, thechallenges and defi ance that I faced during my professionalcareer, which could be specifi c to my geographical regionor global for women scientists all over the world. I hope toshed light on the respected role of women in both industryand academia, and to also explain the family role in everywoman’s life that isn’t given enough attention.
