Due to the pressureof other RSGB work, Hilary Claytonsmith, G4JKS, is handing over this column to me, Dave Lauder, GOSNO. I would like to thank Hilary for initiating the EMC Column in April 1989 and for writing 29 out of 45 columns since then. Hilary will continue to be a member of the EMC Committee and will deal with automotive EMC and international matters. This month, we look at a proposed system for digital video transmission via the telephone system, where it is hoped that future EMC problems can be minimised if standards take account of the need for compatibility with HF amateur bands. We also have further details of the electromagnetic incompatibility of 433.92MHz vehicle keys.
