If any one person could take the credit for bringing EPP to the UK modelling masses, that person would surely be Stan Yeo, prolific designer and proprietor of Phoenix Model Products. Stan's latest machine is the 'Wanabee', a 60" EPP racer specifically designed to challenge those all-conquering US imports, the Gulp and M60. The Wanabee certainly has all the right attributes: plank planform, MH64 section, and stub fuselage with fin. Stan hasn't gone the hi-tech route of carbon spars and all EPP fuselages like his American competitors. Instead, construction uses the same well-proven method of other models in the PMP range: ply-box fuselage with EPP cladding, wooden spars, and Correx fin. In fact, anyone who has built a Ricoshet will be on familiar ground. The only real difference - and a welcome one -is the use of white EPP.
