Min-E-Cutlass

After drawing the plans for the Cutlass (see 'R/C Model World' November 2003) I realised that the half-size wings, as drawn on the plan, were the ideal size for a small electric powered model. My usual approach to a new design is to try to keep it as simple as possible. I had of course seen the plans for Nigel Hawes Turcano and decided that this was the simplest and quickest way to produce a wing of this size. Thanks Nigel. The motor decided on was a 6 volt 400 can motor using the Gunther prop and a pack of 8 x 500 AR cells which I had in my stock. This combo flew the model in a pleasant, though sedate manner, but after all it was a semi-scale fighter type and should have had a decent turn of speed - it didn't!
