The BBC astounded the world with its revelation early last year that the Adelie Penguin had evolved to take flight in the Antarctic region around McMurdo Sound. Further research by workers studying the effects of global warming in the area has led to the astonishing discovery of a larger framed and heavily feathered cross breed (Aptenodytes foresteri X Pygoscelis adelie) for which a northbound migration has just become evident.
