I've always liked the lines of the SE5a, so when Peter put out the call for builders (seems like ages ago) I asked for this one. This is the third Peter Rake design I've been lucky enough to build. I chose the scheme of the 25th Aero Squadron (USA). First the two fuselage sides were built over the plan. As usual with Pete's designs, the fuselage front section is sheet balsa and the rear is a framework. This gives strength up front where it's needed and keeps the tail light. I built the two sections separately and joined them as in Pete's larger designs. It's well worth taking extra care here to get everything square. Note that the 2 mm Lite-ply motor plate is installed at an angle to give the motor the necessary down thrust. The motor stick for the GWS IPS gearbox was glued to the motor plate, at an angle to provide the correct right-thrust. The two 6 g servos were wrapped with masking tape and glued to the fuselage sides between the bottom wing.
