Last month I looked at the simple box fuselage constructed from strip wood or from sheet balsa. I also described some of the modified versions of this construction technique that are sometimes used. One of the most interesting modified box fuselages I have built was for my Missel Thrush. This one-off light aircraft had a fuselage box that started off wider at the bottom, went to a rectangular shape where the pilot and passenger sat and then went to a triangular shape at the sternpost. The sketch shows the fuselage structure that is built using a strip balsa crutch and formers.
