The Yorkshire branch held a technical meeting on the subject of drive efficiency.The speakers, who were from the international company Brammer, showed how power costs can be reduced by as much as 50% through more effective management of motors and gearboxes. Nathan Gunsen's presentation of what at first hand seemed to be a 'dry' subject quickly captured everyone's interest as details emerged of the horror stories that still abound within the quarrying industry. In these days of global warming phobia, the audience themselves warmed to the subject and a lively question time ensued.
