OBITUARY

The industry and The Institute has lost a popular and energetic servant with the death of John Ornsby during September at the age of 70 years. After graduating in Mechanical Engineering from Queen Mary's College, University of London in 1958, John worked briefly for Mobil Oil before joining RMC in 1960 where he had risen to the position of director by 1971 with responsibility for a wide range of business activities, including the dredging of marine aggregates. Indeed, he never lost his interest in ships and shipbuilding.
