Branch Reports Devon and Cornwall

On 20-21 June the Devon & Cornwall branch held it first ever family weekend and hog roast at Morwellam Quay, near Tavistock.rnThe event was open to IQ members and non-members alike, provided they had a strong connection to the extractive industry. As well as providing a relaxing family event, the aim of the weekend was to raise the awareness of the Institute and the Devon & Cornwall branch, and to increase branch membership.rnThe Morwellham Quay venue was selected due to its rich industrial history and strong connections with mineral extraction. The weather was fantastic and 18 families camped on a site prepared by members of the Devon & Cornwall branch, in conjunction with the owners of Morwellham Quay. The camping field allowed children to join in ball games before the evening's hog roast and raffle; an additional special raffle was held for the children.
