The Environment Agency has selected Tarmac to supply primary and recycled aggregates for projects in England and Wales over a four-year period.rnThe agreement will see Tarmac supply loose aggregates for 19 areas under a framework worth around £4 million a year to maintain the Environment Agency's assets, which include flood defences, coastlines and watercourses.rnAs a framework supplier, Tarmac will deliver materials ranging from 5-tonne blocks of armour-stone to 6mm drainage gravels and 0-4mm sand products, and will work with the Agency to determine the most rnsustainable supply of aggregates for each project, ensuring that materials are not transported further than 50 miles from source to final destination in order to reduce carbon miles.
