On Tuesday 12 October branch chairman Graham Lamond welcomed John Oxley to the technical evening at the Bridge Inn, Walshford, for his talk entitled: 'Building the Walls of York'.rnAs the city archaeologist with City of York Council, John's main responsibility is to give archaeological advice to developers and others who want to build in the city so that new buildings cause minimal damage to archaeological remains.
