Lafarge Tarmac's approach to procurement and sustainability has been recognized and rewarded after the company saw off strong competition from major organizations such as BT, Sainsburys, Tata Steel and Vodafone, to scoop the Corporate Social Responsibility category at the Procurement Leaders Awards 2013. The win was in recognition of the company's work to increase industry uptake of recycled asphalt pavement (RAP), which has helped Lafarge Tarmac divert 350,000 tonnes of waste from landfill, save 3,000 tonnes of carbon and significantly reduce their reliance on oil-based materials.
