The Power of Process Orientation

Prior to becoming a continuous improvement consultant, I spent nearly 20 years at a Fortune 500 company, immersed in the most incredible corporate culture I have ever been a part of. I worked in every division, understood the production processes, financials, strategic issues and systems, and knew hundreds of people. That's why I was so surprised when I stumbled upon a silo involving my own department that taught me valuable lessons about the people side of improvement, I pass what I learned on to my clients today. My last position-before a merger dissolved the company-was division level financial manager. On my second day in this role, one of my employees (someone I had known for several years) told me about a transactional problem with sales data. I suggested the employee resolve the issue with someone in marketing.
