In December, the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SF-PUC) approved a new contract with Recurrent Energy to produce 5MW of solar power on top of the Sunset Reservoir. The installation will be the state's largest solar photovoltaic system and the largest municipal solar project in the United States. The planned completion date of the project will be in 2010.rnThe Sunset Reservoir project will increase San Francisco's total municipal solar power production by more than 300 percent, from the current 2 MW to 7 MW. The power purchase agreement for the photovoltaic system and the solar energy it will generate will be developed and operated between the SFPUC and Recurrent Energy.
