The downslide in prices of the previous month could not be arrested in November. All grades witnessed another significant drop in prices compared with October. Prices for northern bleached softwood kraft pulp at the end of the last week in November moved in a price bracket of $680-700/ metr.t which indicates a decline of $100/ metr.t compared with October. Prices for southern softwood pulp settled at $640-650/metr.t in November after they had still amounted to $720-760 in October. Hardwood pulp prices in November were also down by up to $100 compared with October. Prices for eucalyptus and birch pulp were last quoted at $650-660. A month earlier prices still stood at $740-760. Prices for eucalyptus pulp from Portugal and Spain reportedly amounted to €500-520/ metr.t in November. Prices for mixed hardwood pulp also dipped. Southern hardwood pulp was available for $630-640 and prices for northern grades slipped to $640-650/metr.t. In light of the fact that demand in December will weaken further, market experts' forecasts for the coming month indicate further price reductions for hardwood as well as softwood pulp.
