Pratt Industries to build new recycled containerboard mill

Georgia-based US recycled paper and packaging company Pratt Industries will invest $260m to build its fourth recycled containerboard mill in the USA. The new paper mill is to be erected adjacent to Pratt's existing corrugated box plant in Valparaiso in the US state of Indiana. The company said construction was scheduled to begin in March next year and would be completed by July 2015. The mill will add 325,000 tpy (360,000 sh.t) of recycled containerboard to Pratt Industrie's paper capacity. The Valparaiso packaging plant is said to be the world largest box making site. The company currently employs more than 300 people at the box plant and the new paper mill is said to create up to 137 additional jobs by 2018. Anthony Pratt, owner and chairman of Pratt, said the Valparaiso recycled containerboard mill would allow the company to better service the needs of their expanding customer base not only in the Midwest, but also throughout the US.
