Low grain prices increase downward pressure on native starch prices in Western Europe

Low grain prices are dictating a clear trend on the European market for starch products. Price reductions can be expected for wheat and corn-starch in the negotiations on delivery terms for the fourth quarter and, not uncommonly, for the coming three quarters. Manufacturers have given EUWID confirmation of the rising downward pressure on starch prices. Even if some suppliers are declaring the target to be a rollover in prices from the third quarter, experts are expecting the €400 mark to be frequently undercut for cereal-based starch. Where large volumes are involved, buyers are negotiating €380/t for native wheat starch.
